I was thinking that the crew here on adcportal ( including myself ) should start testing the adc software there is , and we should give some marks for the normal users, eg some categories like
functionality
performance
support
updatability ( how fast is updated, maintained )
user interface
and then on the wiki we assign some stars or titles to all the projects
Some graphic for every grade would be nice
Then we have some titles like:
ADCPortal Project of the Month
then , last year poll's winners get
ADCPortal Project of the Year 2008
We need some nice graphic that represents this ( Toast was thinking of something transparent perhaps ).
How does this sound? Perhaps Mythrael can help out with some graphics.
If our tests are real and proof, people could start trusting us for testing software and that would bring more people to adcportal.
Waiting for your feedback and more ideas perhaps

Re: ADCPortal proof/acid tests
Perhaps Crise can help on the wiki if he's at it: make a system to put some pictures or some template to show the ADCPortal rankings for each software ( in the article ) so we can either add pictures or make it look like star system or something.

Re: ADCPortal proof/acid tests
Erm, sure I can help... but do we have enough software "on the market" yet? If you know what I mean... f.ex. project of the month would be little tricky since we'd most likely soon run out of projects.
Also neutrality is a factor... do people see us as a neutral party? (I would find this hard, since pretty much each one of us here is also involved in other, (A)DC related, projects.)

Re: ADCPortal proof/acid tests
Well, if a project is very good, it can stay on the top all the time. Nobody says the project of the month must be different on every month
About objectivity yes, that's what I want adcportal to be , objective, and because we're all involved in different projects, the marks won't be given by just one of us, but by more, and with a talk over it.
Thats the purpose of this marking, to make adcportal trustable in the matter of testing adc software.

Re: ADCPortal proof/acid tests
wouldnt be nice to explain on the score more instead of just printing numbers why u choose that number etc. something like i gave adch++ a 2 in functionality due to its lack blah blah blah blah..Functionality: 9
Features: 2
Performance: 9
Support: 1
Updatability: 1
User interface: 1
Security: 7
ADC compliance: 10
Overall Score: 40/80
ADCH++ ranks as middle class project.

Re: ADCPortal proof/acid tests
For now I have hidden the respective sections from view, because plain numbers don't really tell anything at all... or rather they do not tell the reader: "Why should I trust these numbers?"
Just in case someone was wondering, although I doubt anyone would even notice without this post
