This suggestion is the thing i miss most i DC.
When i press search for alternates dl:s, i get about lets say 40 hits, but only like 4 that have free slots. So my suggestion is that the ones with the free slots should be downloaded first, so you dont miss out on slots when other filelists are being downloaded.

Maybe I don't understand you correctly but it can only download from users with free slots.

Why not just search for sources with only free slots available.

Ok, so your scenario is:

a) you're downloading some files, you search for alternates
b) file lists get fetched for those with exact filenames, so they can serve as sources for all files
c) some users have no free slots
d) you think that the user lists prevented you from getting slots on some users

Correct/Incorrect?

If the user has free slots, a file list will take up a slot, and will allow you to download real files immediately after the file list completes.

If I've incorrectly interpreted your post, please correct me.

OK, maybe I was a little uclear.

What i mean is that the filelists of the users with free slots should be downloaded first. Alla users without filelists can be on hold or something. This way the download will start faster.
