"sudo ./dchpp eth0 -d -p dchpp.pid"
and
"sudo ./dchpp eth0 -d -p /var/run/dchpp.pid"
both do nothing. Am I doing the switch wrong?

seems like I have a similar problem (I'm not running it as a service...)

if I try to switch it off, it stops like this:
Shutting down.,,
me and others can still connect to the hub

log doesn't say anything:
dchpp: DCH++ v0.32-Release (Plugin API v0.32) shut down

In the past this was caused from DnsBl. I've alerted Sed to it already. I'm having this problem too on Win2k

if this can help, I'm not running DnsBl

Code: Select all

<Plugins>
<!-- This plugins provides a few op commands to play around with. Type +help in the main
chat when logged in as an op to see what you can do -->
      <Plugin>OpCom</Plugin>
<!-- This plugins provides the LUA Scripting language. It also uses (relative to dch++ anyway)
quite a lot of resources, so only enable it if you absolutely have to... -->
      <Plugin>LuaScript</Plugin>
   </Plugins>

Hmm, you're right. I just disabled dnsbl and DCH++ still hung on shutdown. Guess its time for 0.32-4

just tried +masspm with a hub with me, another op, and my work PC (with an away message). We bot got a reply from the work pc with the away message. In a busy hub that's not gonna be fun. Also, can we get confirmation of what we sent like the -masspm did?

just downgraded surfnet to 0.32-1 to see if it happens with that one
0.31 was perfectly stable

My theory is; if the hub uses 100% CPU for a second or two.. then suddenly has the CPU to process all the passive searches at once, and DC++ thinks everyone seach spamming, when in fact i was the server.

0.32-3 seems fine for me though, appart from the shutting down issue. Will upgrade to -4 soon i think.

There are however still issues with people disconnecting\overflowing. With 1500 users, this problem seems magnified. Same happens with any buffer size from 1400 to 524288, but with no luck. :(
Could simply be the distance.. but often people report a timeout after the motd.. and not before. It's quite large.. but it's no-where near as large as the userlist.

uh.. that was not a second or two.. the evidence is not the search spam, but the amount of "." and "test"'s.

hm, socket code changes between 31-2 and 32-4 were trivial...perhaps one of the plugins? Try running it opcom-only for a few minutes...

"uh.. that was not a second or two.. the evidence is not the search spam, but the amount of "." and "test"'s."

oh.. yeah. lol. My mistake!

"hm, socket code changes between 31-2 and 32-4 were trivial...perhaps one of the plugins? Try running it opcom-only for a few minutes"

can't afford to on the main hub.. get far too many users whining!

It doesn't seem to be a problem with this version. The same's happened in all previous versions.. it's just magnified due to more users.

well, I assume this spam issue is happening only on the linux version?

The disconnects is something completely different, that I still need to figure out..

Some sort of startup bug in 0.32-4 in Win2K. This happens when you restart DCH++ several times. What happens is once DCH++ is running, everything appears fine (no errors in the log file), but when you connect to the hub you get...
[01:21] *** Connecting to the-void.kicks-ass.net:1411...
[01:21] *** Connected

And thats it. No user list or anything...just sits there. It shutsdown fine too with no errors.

a bit late,
but I forgot to mention that setting MaxSendSize to 4096 instead of 65536 eliminated the problems I had with the linux dchpp

More odd problems...
[11:15] *** Connecting to kkhub.kicks-ass.net...

[11:15] *** Disconnected

I know the reason its not connecting because the nick I'm using is in use (by myself on another computer) but for whatever reason its not saying that...

I dont think thats the problem. At anyrate, here are the permissions

"Path"
"C:\Program Files\dchpp2"

"Read"
"Administrators
NT AUTHORITY\TERMINAL SERVER USER
Power Users
Users"

"Write"
"Administrators
NT AUTHORITY\TERMINAL SERVER USER
Power Users"

These have always worked... gotta be some sort of DCH++ related bug.

use aports.exe or netstat to check if your port is actually used by dch++ and not someone else

doht...thought you were running linux. My problem was the hub didn't have read access to the file with the error messages.

Yup, DCHPP is listening on 1411. Although all connections are going registered to "system" instead of DCHPP (this is for my normal hub which is working fine and the 'broken' hub)

Also, I notice that when I disconnect from the hub thats not working, I can see that its TCP remains in CLOSE_WAIT forever.

Copying the whole hub filestructure to another dir, and running that instance works. Maybe this will point you to the problem? :-S

You must specify the direct link to the file like: http://wza.digitalbrains.com/users/.arn ... -Win32.rar

Appears to be working for me.
