Addition to rollback

Post by Icheb » 2004-01-03 11:40

I noticed a number of users having problems with the rollback inconsistency (me being one of them).
The errors at my computer are being caused by crashes, but i was thinking about something. Can't that cutoff program be included in DC ?
I mean, when a download has a rollback inconsistency, DC starts cutting of bytes to see when it's correct again, this way users don't have to delete half the files when something goes wrong.

Personally i don't have the experience to make something like this, but i hope someone who is willing to do it does.

No way. Including cutoff is another hack.

Full-file incremental cryptographic hashes are the best way to ensure the integrity of files. However, the goal of the "safe and compressed" transfers feature enabled in recent versions of DC++ is to ensure the integrity of file transfers, so if everyone is using it, rollback errors should also disappear..
