suggestion: slot allocation/favorite hub - protocol change?

Post by biatche » 2003-12-05 06:52

basically this is the idea:
we want to allocate the minimum number of slots for each hub requirement.
im still thinking of how this would work.. actually

2 ways.. not solid, ideas would be good.

AUTO: im sure a lot of people have come across the issue of not meeting the sufficient number of slots when entering a hub.
if they really want to enter a hub, they gotta meet the min slot requirement.. and why not just make this auto-allocation?

MANUAL: why not set default # of slots per hub to 3 or something.. where user may alter this (for public hubs)
and for their favorite hubs, they can allocate the # of slots just for that hub..

why do this? certain hubs have 3 slots min requirement.. and some 2 slots.. for a low-mid bandwidth user like me, i rather have fewer slots to share or people would be complaining about my bandwidth.

Auto setting of slots is only possible if the hub supports this and this time I don't know one that could do it...

the very first step is implementing it to clients.. once this first step is made, then hub coders might see it and implement it to their hubs.
