Could an Auto segment feature be added in the future ?

Like Getright does it ... IE downloads the same *file* from several users at once ... and puts it together as one on my hdd.

Some other P2P applications call it multi-source downloading.

There are some older threads, with some good commenary on them. Go find one and post to it and bring it back.

(One of the common ideas is that a checksum / verification method needs to be added to DC++ before such downloads would be a good idea. And a common complaint is that they'd use up more slots, which seem to already be scarce. These are not necessarily my opinions, just a quick summary of some topics that come up.)

Good link. I think the segmented downloading feature in pDC++ is good. It's a great way for common files to spread.

I have a private DC++ server and most people are sharing the same things, so segmented downloading would do a better job of sharing the bandwidth for these files.

I'd love to see DC++ & pDC++ combine to make a great client even better.

I would hate to see pDC be merged into DC++ because DC++ isn't ready for it yet... =) DC++ needs hashing first IMO, and pDC isn't really stable yet you know. =) But eventually I think DC++ will implement, maybe a year from now...
