Main Chat Hyperlink

Post by MIAMI SOUTH » 2003-10-09 07:54

Just a thought, but it would be nice to be able to send a user a private message just by double (or single) clicking on their username in the main chat window.
It can be a pain in the neck to want to respond to a users request for info or help when you must search through the users list. Especially when the username has symbols rather than letters.
Maybe the linked username could remain 'hot' for 30 seconds after it appears in the chat, after that it returns to normal. This would save bandwidth.

use version 0.263 and press ctrl when you double-click.

please don't ask for features that exist already ;)

note: this doesn't work for people with symbols in their names, no. maybe that's a good thing ;))

OK, if there is a feature that will connect to a user by clicking on his username in the main chat window, it sure isn't on DC++.
I was told not to ask for something thats already a feature, ok thats fair, but I would like for that user to explain to me how this feature works.
I thought I knew how to use this program, oh well.
I am waiting and so are all the other forum readers, for instructions on how to activate this feature....

NOT

It does look broken in 0.263 though.

I'm not sure whether you actually want someone to say something, as you are being very conflicting. The instructions have already been mentioned, but I will summarise, for clarity, if you want.

Image
As Twink mentioned, if you right click on a user name, a menu appears.

If you double click on a user name, it gets selected in the user list.

As Sedulus said, if you Control + double click on the user name, a new PM window opens.

If there is any part that you do not understand, please say so.

How so? If it's supposed to be ctrl+click, then I gues it *is* broken. But ctrl+double click certainly works.

Ctrl+Double-Click doesn't seem to for me in my configuration (post 0.263 CVS source) on my XP laptop... All I keep doing is downloading my list from my home nick ;)

OK!! I downloaded another DC++ program from the mirror in Japan just to see if there was a difference. All I know is that NOW when I right click on the username in the main chat window, the menu DOES appear.
Not to sound confusing or un-clear to anyone, but, this feature was not working when I wrote the first post. I had information that it was there, however, I could not find it. Even after several different attempts.
You know, maybe I should have summitted it as a bug report.
The CTRL>Dbclk>username still does not work. I wouldn't use it anyway, because I am a mouse user not a keyboard user.
Thank you all for being so HELPFUL.
By the way, nice graphics.
All of us at The University of Miami say hi to all of you!!
Have a good one.
