HUB?? what do i need to run a server?

Post by EdwardSchacheComputers » 2003-09-10 07:36

Hi Everyone,

I hope your in a helpfull mood cause i am confused... I am trying to set up a DC++ hub so that i can run it at a lan i will be hosting. I have two computers on my desk atm to try and get it setup as best as possible and i cant get the two to see each other through dc++ i have searched high and low on the net and on here and cant find any enlightenment into this taboo topic of setting up a server. I understand it is peer to peer but i have to join a server to see the other computer, i need to be able to do this on a LAN ie I need to run the server. Anyone who can put me out of my missery fire away, i need all the info i can get cause this LAN isnt getting further away and i hate the unrealiablity and connection probs trying to use windows file sharing and when i found out about this program i thought "PERFECT" now i just need to learn more...

Please Help

ED

What exactly have you tried, and what were the outcomes?
Have you got some hub software?
Does each machine on your LAN have public IP addresses or private ones?
The world is coming to an end. Please log off.
