Better way of automatically searching alternatives
There seem to be some problems with the current way of automatically searching for alternatives (also see this topic)
So i thought out a better way to search for alternatives
This is how it should work
1. Search the hub every 15 minutes or so for users with free slots who have queued files
2. Make a list (in the background) of the search results, ordered by who responsed first
3. Download the file which is first in the list, if the file doesn't start in about 10 sec, go to the next result
Is this possible to make?

1. Search the hub every 15 minutes or so for users with free slots who have queued files
This would put an enormous strain on the hub. This type of frequent searching for a hub with 1000 people would be an additional 66 searches per minute than normal. That is why the current method only searches for files that have "no users online".

The list of first responses is not the same as the fastest uploaders, because the first pinged are not necessarilly the fastest connections, if that's what you're looking for in the search.

Ok make it 30 minutes or so, it was just an example

I know but you have a big chance of getting the fastest user

Hold on a second. How is alternate searching broken, in your eyes? Second, which of your changes address that?
I don't see much of a change from the current system, other than that you want some sort of connect-timeout-rotate-sources option.

In the way I suggested it tries to download the files one by one, in the order which mostly gives the fastest download

Ugh. For the last time, there is no correlation between an uploader's ping and his upload speed! This method is totally blind.
Actually, it's in the DC++ FAQ. There is a link below for your convenience:

Oh, so that was the only change from the DC++ standard way?
Okay.
What you're looking for seems to be nearly identical, function wise, to some other feature requests. Specifically, people have asked for a "minimum download speed", below which souces would be dropped. Presumably, if you rotated around all the souces and none met your speed, DC++ would remember which one was fastest, and use it instead. This is really what you seem to be looking for... no?

i said mostly
when i search something and i download the first one, it is in most cases the fastest in the list

Okay.
Well at this time the function nearly works because he tries to download all things at the same time, so when it will download one by one, it is a huge improvement (simple but effective)

Get file list
When I browse some user files (Get file list) I want all his files that match files in my queue to be added as a source...
When a 500mb file is stripped down to 50 10mb rar files I want to be able to search for firstfile.r01 and then do a "Get file list" on some user that also has the file and I want all the other rXX files to be added to the queue as well...
This behavior isn't found in the newest release v0.261 (afaik)
Best Regards / Moses

I suggest you investigate the "Match Queue" button in the file list window.
