media files wont play !!!! Help!

many media files i download wont play i click on them and windows media player opens and then it playts but i see my piture but the visuall thik is going instead of what should be playing but i cna still hear the sound
waht is wrong do i need a diffent media player for these files

u need the codecs www.vcdhelp.com go on there and downlaod nimo codec pack

i have never really dealt with music files before i dont understand waht to do with the codes but i am reading the "How To" very informative thanx for the link!
