Searching in HUBs that aren't connected

Post by LoWang » 2003-04-14 00:58

Ehm, I am not sure if I will not look like a fool demanding such an impossible feature but I think it could be very useful
When I look at the public hub list I see hundreds of HUBs and this view isn't much pleasant for me (you say that it's good to see so many people sharing so many files thought), because when I look for something and I don't find it in the HUB with biggest number of connected users I continue connecting other HUBs with less people on it clicking again and again on search button and reading those kilobytes of text and finding out why that that and channel didn't let me connect... During this I must change the number of open slots and disconnect old channels because every channel has different requirements and rules... This all is really time consuming and soon quite annoying, but tell me, how can I know that my desired file isn't on some harddisk of a user connected to a channel that is somewhere near the end of the HUB list, where I will hardly ever look if that channel has 5 users :?
I don't know how could it be done to search many HUBs (maybe to make some superHUB:) but imagine how marvellous it could be, when I just search for a file in some list of HUBs (all known or somehow filtered) and then I connect to that HUB and download it :)
Not less good would be a function looking for a specific user where is he connected...

This isn't the way DC was meant to be used, since there's no sense of community in what you describe. That said, there are tools for achieving roughly what you want.

Yes I know that for example Kazaa don't allow creating any community and I am glad when I can chat with users I am downloading from, but sometimes... You said there are such a tools, so where can I find them? Don't be afraid, I am always a part of community on our czech channels :)

Listen, it's one of the main forums. Specifically, the name of the forum contains the names of two of the applications to do this.
