My top 5 wishes for DC++ are:
- spam filter (on IP, nick, text)
- MSN style popup on private messages
- searching more like google (all commands in the text box like xxx -porn -nickname:RDS, so I can find tripleX without porn and not downloading it from RDS guys)
- auto disconnect slow uploads and downloads
- auto find faster sources and switch the download
But anything, including these, could be done with a good Javascript like script. So this is my request. I know someone probably posted this in bugzilla, and how I wish I had the time to look for it, but unfortunately I don't. And I stress the necessity for a dynamic, c structured script.
Scripting

javascript is no option...
Lua implementation in DC++ (which is not even there) doesn't allow people to change the way they can search....
msn style popup is in fulDC and is hardcoded.
auto disconnect slow downloads is allready implemented,
disconnecting slow uploads is not cool.
there's no reliable way of telling which sourcew is faster, so that would be a big pile of crap to make that even a little stable...
so the only liable proposal would be the spam check...
unless the stuff you ask for would be implemented in the code

You can send a message around the world in 1/7 of a second; yet it may take several years to move a simple idea through a 1/4 inch of human skull.

Why not?
>Lua implementation in DC++ (which is not even there) doesn't allow people to change the way they can search....
So don't use LUA.
>msn style popup is in fulDC and is hardcoded.
But without the spam filter it is useless, anyway
>disconnecting slow uploads is not cool.
Well, tell that to the people asking for slots when I am not at the computer because I am having 40 uploads of less than 1kb/s
>there's no reliable way of telling which sourcew is faster, so that would be a big pile of crap to make that even a little stable...
There is a reliable way, if even a human can do it. Download a bit from all the sources, find the faster one. Disconnect all downloads of that file, then use the one you found. Do this only for files of size>X. If it is a problem doing it automatically, it could be done at a push of a button.
Or, as a small hack that would allow people to do this without any significant change to the code, implement disconnecting slow downloads on a per file basis. So one could right click a download and select 1MB/s, for example.

Oh, and what a request! I bet it is the most popular request on your board.
