Force connection

Post by Vinne2 » 2004-06-14 16:27

Think that there should be a function like 'FORCE ALL CONNECTIONS' in Menu\Options [eventually Menu\Options\Advanced].

This should work this simply way: on startup DC++ forces all download connections it starts for you since it's running.

Helpful, isn't it??? It's not impossible, is it??? Yo agree, don't yo???

Hope it'll be in next ver.'s

Why? DC++ will try to reconnect to those who are online in your download queue and have available slots.

Yeah, but when he's online, he's got one free slot I wanna be first!!!

Sometimes, when I'm searching for sth, I look: 'Oh, there it is. And he's got 2 free slots. Good. So let's start....' Then i try to connect & download and.... 'Connecting...' then 'No slots available'

R U happy then??? :?:

So what happens when everyone else uses your feature because they want to get there first? You're back where you started. Please think things through before spouting off randomly.

Also, please stop with the excessive question marks and exclamation marks. It's quite irritating and detracts from the comment you are trying to make.

For your information, there's already one DC client that rejects connections for the first couple seconds/minutes that it's on the hub: BlackDC. It is because any user gets pounced by everyone who has files queued from them - essentially the one with the lowest latency to you gets any free slots you may have.

That's not entirely fair. Force-all isn't any better - I consider it abusive.
