My Experiences with a Tabbed DC Mod

Post by Twink » 2003-08-11 11:01

i've been working on a little mod the dc++ gui (for those who didn't already know), a sample pic of my results is here http://twink.orcon.net.nz/DCwithTabs.png

while this pic may look ok, I'm having several problems with it. Based on the code found at http://www.codeproject.com/wtl/wtldockingwindows.asp which isn't designed for use with MDI windows. I have played around with a few things, and as you can see it seems to work. However, the windows still dont act fully like MDI children, which means they dont activate themselves properly (notice how in the pic there were no active windows), meaning you can't chat or select text in a hub. However once a hub window is docked, it works fine, if the window is then undocked it is active so you can type in it, however so are any other windows that were undocked too.

Anyway, this problem has alot of other affects like keyboard shortcuts not working properly, windows not dragging properly and others. I'm really stumped, however I think this mod still has alot of potential, so I'm wondering if anyone might have a better idea then me. I've uploaded the source to http://twink.orcon.net.nz/Source.rar for people to look play with see if they have any luck.

Twink, thanks for the source. I know I've downloaded it for a) safekeeping and b) wasting of future free time. It looks like a good direction, generally, for DC++ to go in (since it enables a lot of customization and can bend to user preferences)...
