Additional Paused option

Post by Bubbles » 2004-04-12 18:33

Wouldn't it be nice if you could determine if you're paused files would still be paused the next time you start dc++, or whether they are changed back to priority Normal/Slow ?

What I'm thinking of are two priority options:
Paused Permanent
Paused Temporary

When dc++ starts up it searches for all Paused Temporary and replaces it to the file's previous state (Low/Normal or whatever).

Could this be done?

Of course it could be done. :)

As much as I understand (and sympathise with the pain of doing so) that some people do a lot of manual management of sources, this is very uninteresting - once hashing is widespread, multi-source downloading will be safe, and if implemented, it will eliminate a whole lot of problems and feature requests - including those for the micro-management of sources.

The reason why I would like this is to prevent my harddrive from getting full.
The multiple source download will not help me here, instead it will the feature fill up my harddrive faster..

But I love the idea of multisource download otherwise...

Well, then ask for the ability to pause downloads when your HD space is low.

I've seen the request before, though

[ 833009 ] Free disk space indicator

is the best I can find in the tracker at the moment.

Well, it could be useful other times as well.
For instance if I want specific downloads to get maximum bandwidth, I could pause other downloads and tell my computer to shut down a XX hours. When DC++ is started again the paused downloads are back to normal...

I suppose, but pausing on low disk space is much more appealing to code than code to handle "temporary pause" and "permanent pause."
