DC++/Bittorrent hybrid
I am certainly not from any sort of programming background so I'm not sure if a project like this would be possible. I do think that if the seeding process was integrated into the DC++ software it would be really slick. If the hub software included an option to behave like a tracker speeds would pick right up on common downloads. I hope this idea sparks some sort of interest.

Well, since DC++ doesn't have any support for sharing incomplete files right now, this wouldn't really work. However, this kind of thing does happen naturally, just with a large lag time: popular files wind up with more sources, so there are more people to be able to get a slot from. Once multisource comes along, this type of thing will become even more efficient. My friend and I were also doing something like this where we both queued a large folder full of files and swapped the files we manged to get off the original source between each other. This doesn't work for single-file downloads, of course, but I'm not so sure it really should.

A Direct Connect / BitTorrent hybrid? No thanks.
There are certain ideas that BT and other more modern P2P networks have like hashing, partial file sharing, multi-source downloads, and credit systems that DC++ could benefit from - but there's no benefit to emulating BT specifically if those get coded.
