this feature request is not about dc++ directly but about this site

I remember a site (miranda icq) which had a list of all the suggested features, users could vote for them and when a particular feature gets a lot of votes, the developers knew they had to work on that feature to make most people happy

I had the same thing in mind for this site, there are a lot of feature requests in the tracker and on this forum, I think it would be a good idea to put all the features in one central list, and let users decide which order of priority there will be.

Feedback would be nice - it would be a useful indicator of what popular features are (though I'd like to draw the line and say it won't determine which features get coded - or in what order. [if users pay me, then sure, they decide how I spend my time, but otherwise I'll code whatever tickles my fancy])

I've had at least two thoughts on the matter before:

Jon Hess already does this with NMDC

Mozilla uses Bugzilla as both a feature tracker (RFE) and bug tracker. It has voting capabilities for both.


Two problems:
The package has to be pre-made or contributed by a DC++ (or other) user. It's unlikely that arnetheduck, myself, or one of the mod makers will write a feature-voting-tracking system.

Hosting. It has to be hostable on Sourceforge, or someone has to pay for or volunteer stable, reliable, long-term hosting. For example, the old forums (hosted on lichlord) disappeared, with not even a backup to get them restored elsewhere. This cannot happen again.

Features from here may be considered as well, but that tracker is where all non-duplicate features should go.
