Translation

Post by maxie_ro » 2004-02-22 12:53

Hi there. I've made a translation for DC++ 0.306, tested it and it's already posted (and soon to be modified...), but i have a few issues. I hope someone can help me.

Things are missing in the English Example.xml file:
- All items in Hub Properties window, from Favorite Hubs !!!
- in Appearance, there are 2 buttons: Uploads and Downloads; i can't find their string
- the string for "Log filelist transfers"

In the Settings window -> Shares, could someone pls make more space for the Label with the total share size (xx.x GB), and for hidden files too ?

Is there a posibility for the DC++ application to automatically show the available language files for every version and download them on user request ?

Thank you. :P

later edit: Just realised now, is there a way to translate the window titles, like "Settings" ?

This isn't localized yet.

<String Name="Downloads">Downloads</String>
<String Name="Uploads">Uploads</String>
<String Name="SettingsLogFilelistTransfers">Log filelist transfers</String>

It's cramped as is:

Sure, that's a feature that someone could write and contribute.

It looks like "Settings" isn't localized.

I'm going to move this to the feature request forum.

<String Name="Uploads">Uploads</String>
<String Name="SettingsLogFilelistTransfers">Log filelist transfers</String>

Thanks !

Indeed. A little redesign maybe ? Like placing the label and the checkbox below the 2 buttons, and making the list above smaller ? :P Cause i have to fit somehow "Dimensiune totala" in the label and "Partajeaza fisierele ascunse" in the checkbox. :? And all shorter translations will produce confusion for users that haven't already used DC++ for some time in English.

Sure, that's a feature that someone could write and contribute.

Yes, wish i could help. I know some C++, but i don't have Visual Studio and i'm clueless regarding network protocols. I don't plan to stay like that though. :)

It looks like "Settings" isn't localized.

How about "OK" and "Cancel" ?

Thanks Gargoyle !

I'll keep this in mind... There's plenty of opportunity for reorganizing the settings to be a bit more logical, when that's done, giving more space for text labels for localization will be on my mind, if I'm the one who does it.

Well, it could be as "simple" as making an xml, a gui page, then using or modifying the http downloading class to retrieve a translation file. This all requires a lot of work on the part of someone with write access to the DC++ webpage, since someone will have to keep track of translations and keep the XML up to date. This is... a small liability, as you might understand.

Those aren't coded into DC++, they're handled by your OS - they should be localized already, if you're running a non-English OS. Are they?

You're quite welcome. Thanks for pointing out the "Settings" thing - that was quick, and arnetheduck has a patch for it now.
