little more complex searching

Post by premuss » 2003-02-10 14:44

Many of users rename their files, but this means that if some user goes off-line sometimes it is hard to find the same name of file to continue.

Would it be possible to treat all the files with same chksum as same regardless off the file-name?

If that would be possible you could just mark all the files and get them to download and it would be very easy to find a user from whom you can download with greatest speed.

Best regards

Unfortunately, Direct Connect does not support checksum searching. This would mean that only DC++ clients would be able to "listen" to your search, thus the search would not give many responses. There are also those that wish to implement checksumming parts of files to support segmented / multi-source downloading later on.

There are already discussion about how to implement this in DC++ - check in the Protocol Alley forum - despite its description the posts in it are not very technical in nature - in my opinion.
