Right click command on users: Slots

Post by STB » 2003-11-02 12:12

If you'r clicking with right mouse button, on a user, there is an options to ask his computer about: free slots/all slots, Like in the search.
Or just a report like this, on right click:

peter4535
Slots: 16/16
Get File list
Match queue
Send private message
etc.

Is it possible to make it? to code it?

The number of slots open and total is only sent to other clients with search replies.

In short, there's no easy way (without wasting hub bandwidth) to get the information you want.

Note: for Neo-Modus direct connect 2.x, the O: tag is free slots, while S: is total. That's the only semi-workaround I can think of.

(Please be patient, people are not monitoring the forums except at their own pace. Impatience... doesn't make someone want to write a nice reply to you.)

So they actually put a good feature in nmdc for a change :D
How about having the O: for open slots in dc++? can't hurt the hubs bandwidth this way ;)
[DeathNap] Your Entrance To Hells Domain... dchub://doom-metal.deathnap.com
Metalheads only and movies. 2gb/2 slots min.

I disagree. (like MT already mentioned) updating the complete myinfo whenever I lose or add a downloader, does increase bandwidth. (which is a lot more relevant for people on a decent (10+mbit) line.)

Well, O: already had a pre-defined meaning - it's the number from "Open an additional upload slot if speed is under xxx kilobytes/s." If Jon named it something else, then perhaps I'd feel it's more useful.

However, something most feature-requesters do not see is the complaints about the amount of bandwidth taken by $MyINFO, and especially the <++ tag and excessive/duplicate sendings of it. It's the hub software people complaining, and they have every cause to. Volatile information does not belong in that tag!
