feature request or I can not find it in DC++ 0.261

Post by eldorado » 2003-07-27 17:53

:D hello all,

just a little question:

in my network at home I use to connect to the internet only trough proxy servers on my firewall. my http proxy server needs an authentication before I can browse the internet. it asks for a username and a password.

is it possible to use a proxy server that needs authentication in DC++ 0.261 and if yes where to put the login information in?? If not, could it be possible to implement this feature in a next version of DC++ because I'm a little paranoid regarding the LAN security.

The problem is that I can not get any public hublist trough my proxy server. I have to allow http traffic without authentication trough my firewall, that it works.

DC++ 0.261, active mode
WinXP Pro SP1a

thanx a lot for some help

No, the only form of authentication DC++ supports is against SOCK5 servers (in SOCKS5 mode). There's no support for authenticating with HTTP proxies, for downloading the public hub list.

hello GargoyleMT

thanx for the quick answer.
I'm assuming right that socks5 is not an active mode, yes?
now that I ask this question I'm quite shure that socks5 is not an active mode. could you please confirm?

greetings

There are three modes: Active / Passive / Socks5.
