Enable Tab Sorting

Post by Timzone8 » 2004-05-22 13:16

Is it possible to take the name of each Tab (hubs, queue, lists) and select a method of sorting them from left to right, or even just the ability to drag the tabs across?
This would help improve DC++ use for those who like to memorise movements to do something quickly. It would also make it easier to pick out a hub from list if they were in the same area.

Sure, such things looks nice et.c. But currently no developer spends any time on gui-features. There are some clones out there who do some more advanced GUI-development, but they almost never contribute any code back to the dc++ core-project.

this-is-the-current-status-of-gui-enhancement-ly'ers.
Everyone is supposed to download from the hubs, - I don´t know why, but I never do anymore.

I do a smidgen of GUI code, but tab reordering isn't as important as, say, a tree-grouping mechanism for the queue and search results, column toggling, toolbar customization, proper keyboard navigation support, transferview size remembering and toggling, etc.

What the hell. It's Sunday, and I'm still in recovery; I have nothing better to do and I want this feature. I'll give it a stab. *thinks* Probably a hardcoded list of types of tabs and order of types, possibly along with a insertion sort, would be the best to start. My feelings:
  1. Public hubs
  2. Favorite hubs
  3. Favorite users
  4. Hubs
  5. Searches
  6. Filelists
  7. Privmsg
  8. Up/Download Queues/Finished
  9. Statistics
  10. Debug

Oh joy, vc7 ahead. Meh.

Sheesh' I was just asking for the ability to *move* tabs as they are currently locked down unless you open them in a specific order. And auto-sort feature (2nd) would be good for it too as you'd have them sorted the way you want.
***sliding off track so as not to waste another thread: FTP resume, management?
Would any DC++ coder be willing to implement a FTP/HTTP page in DC++ for downloading/uploading files? Seeing how DC++ is a DL UL - P2P client, why not include P2S (peer-to-server) function?
"It's too difficult. I'd rather be watching the simpsons. FTP?"[/i]

Well, its not sorting... but....

You can deal with this by sorting your FAVorite hubs (up and down) and when you start dc++ you will have the hubs tabs sorted as they are in the FAV list....
