1. for leecher who don't share.
2. difficult to find what you want.
3. just lame
4. dc is 10 times better.
5. nuff said, it sucks.
I do use bittorent, kazaa occasionally but not as often as DC because it's the best damn thing invented since Napster

Why some like it? very simple, because it's the only thing they use to get files from others, a sad truth and they are very biased as well saying every other p2p sucks. I have a friend like that, he came here making a half ass out of himself and got banned. LMAO!!!

I've never used it before so I cannot comment on it. I can comment on this thread though. Can you offer some *actual* reasons why IRC is no good? As in, non-opinion, non-contradictory reasons?

IRC can be very good. I use it sometimes, but only for files I don't find on DC or Ares. I was looking for Shenmue 2 for ages (no-where to buy it from anymore) and then I finally found out how to search IRC properly. In response to your 'difficult to find what you want' comment. Try these:

If Shenmue 2 was transferring at 60k/Sec on DC, I would have got it from there. But unfortunatly on DC, the max speed people was giving me was 6k/Sec in which people normally go offline after about 30 minutes anyway. I also share my files on IRC (in certain channels).

So, basically, I disagree with you.

funny alot of l33t IRC users as they call themselves have quite oposite thoughts dc is lame irc is 10 times better, im a fond dc user but irc is definately the best but i will never stop using dc

everything always starts off on IRC or Newsgroups, then spreads out to the rest of the other networks and clients. i use IRC once in awhile, but i use DC++ the most.

Well as for RLS groups like TCF, CTP and others "hating" that fact that their files get put on Bots on IRC... Thats about the biggest bunch of crap Ive herad in a long time. Hell... Deviance sends some channels pre's.

And as for IRC being lame there SAM... Maybe if you gave us some non subjective reason, other than "its lame" we wouldn't laugh at you. You tell me somewhere else to get what you want the day its out at speeds around 500k other than topsites.

I'm not as far down the 'rabit hole' as I used to be, but unless alot of things have changed, the 'scene' is still a private competition between groups to see who can package/release the new stuff the best/fastest. The fact that it filters down to the general public eventually is a bad thing. Am I wrong? Do groups release stuff so that Joe Download can leech Pirates of the Caribean :wink:
