I was trying a simple DOS attack against dch++, just for fun. I remembered that trying to log in with telnet never seemed to timeout, so I thought I would just connect and do nothing, basically.
I connected, slowly (due to a dns lookup at every connect, and btw, why wasnt that cached? Odd) 2000 times. That did nothing more than raise the cpu time reported by 4-5 seconds, and raised the amount of used memory approx 1Mb.
When I removed the dns-lookup, the connects took about 1 second to perform, and seemed to take the hub down. I wonder why, Arne?

Anyway, I do a little stress test every now and then, what app did you use?
Oh, and which one did you kill? dev.direct-connect.nu?
Not logged in, doing nothing, just a bunch of connect() calls to the port. Yeah, I told ade, who was online, so it was down for only a moment.
