sigh...I'm stupid and didn't realize the plugins are now included.
This is after I've just gotten it setup. I hope to get some users in here later today (friday).
BSOD, where'd you get the me.lua? If possible can I get a copy of it? I've been looking for a +me type script for a while!

Sed gave it to me after I bugged him
Code: Select all
-- vim:ts=4:sw=4:noet
function dchpp.clientMessage( client, msg )
local cmd = string.sub( msg, 1, 4 )
if cmd == "+me " then
dchpp.sendToAll( "* "..client:getNick().." "..string.sub( msg, 5 ).."|" )
return dchpp.ACTION_STOP
end
end

so, any functional issues in 0.31? I was thinking about a public release soon...
Oh, and in case you wonder, I'll still have use for you beta testers (specially since you seem pretty loyal and hardened by now, not giving up on first error =), I plan on making dch++ releases a bit more stable / tested than the dc++ counterpart =)...and I don't plan on making the public ones very often either, I have no interest whatsoever in caring about whining hub owners (not that I care particularily about whining client users, anyway)...
In case people ask, the first public release will _probably_ be closed-source, no public plugin api and non-commercial use only done mainly as a large scale beta test...

I haven't stress tested it, but I think it might need some more detailed instructions or a version of the readme with Linux instructions with the Linux distro. I had to get the one from the windows one last nite. I can go through that one in a few minutes and change the appropriate details if you don't mind.

I can't seem to run it in daemon mode in linux. It just dies automatically. command-line mode seems to work fine though.
here's some changes in the readme I'd suggest:
here's some changes in the readme I'd suggest:
Code: Select all
-- Installation --
1. Unextract all files into a directory of your choice. By default the config files will be looked for in /etc/dchpp. You can specify a directory of your choice by adding the -c command
2. Open dchpp.xml with notepad and check that all settings are to your satisfaction. If you don't understand
a setting you're most probably better off leaving it alone.
3. Open the other xml's you'll find in the config dir. Most important are levels.xml and users.xml.
4. Try starting the hub by opening a command prompt and typing "dchpp". When the hub has started, you should
be able to connect to it with a client of your choice. If something doesn't work, make sure you've enabled
logging, and check the log file for hints why things didn't work out.
5. Edit motd.txt to your liking.
6. * Linux only *
To run the hub start it with "dchpp <network card>"
*note: you may have to be root to run dchpp*
6. * Windows only *
To run the hub as a service, install it with "dchpp -i <name>". A service with the name <name> will be installed,
and you can then use "net start <name>" to start it. If you want to run multiple hubs as services, use
"dchpp -i <name>" with a different name for each service (put them in different directories to use different
config files). To uninstall, type "dchpp -u <name>".-

anything in log at all? what return code does the process give?
I get nothing returned, so I assume it worked, but it's not in the process list. Running in normal mode works most of the time but I seem to get seg faults occasionally (nothing in the logs about it).
Anything I can do to get more information to you?

consider the following two +stats views:
0.31 running for 2 weeks. 1210 users, ~110MB RAM!
0.32. runtime: 6 hours. 1424 users. only 25MB of RAM used.
(same plugins, and MORE scripts than above
)
Possible (albeit very slow) memory leak in 0.31? Fixed in 0.32?

ghe =)
because it stores every unique IP and nick
get the newest from dchpp.digitalbrains.com
that one won't save login stuff, because I assume you're running simplelog, which should be a (better) replacement
