Old user of dc++ but need help to set it up

Hi i'm an old user of Dc ++ but i can't seem to get things going i installed it right but the setting i don't quite remeber how to set it up.I look up on how to set it up but when i go to connect to a hub list it says:a connet failed because the paty didn't answer in time so i'm wondering what do i do to fix this problem

Check first if your firewall software doesn't block DC++. What can you see if you open Help/About menu in the LATEST VERSION box?

i did what you said : it says that in the latest version there's no connection because the target machine activity..... what do i do next

This indicates that DC++ is being blocked by a software firewall. You will need to configure your firewall to allow access.

ok did what you said about my firewall i closed it for now but now it says:download failed...a connection failed because a connected party dind't response in a period of time.....What can i do to fix this problem.....please help me

i'm using window xp firewall + i'm using mcaffee too all i want is to know how to fix my problem so i can get more karaoke for my list.....
