Searching finds the files, but screen white

Post by kblom » 2006-09-25 11:21

Hi

When I do a search I can see how many files it finds, it could be 46, or as with the latest 168... It says how many Items it findsand how many Filtered. The scroll bar is short when it's many results, so it's ok, and I can scoll up and down in the result list - but there is nothing to see, it's only white.

Could it have anything to do with settings in Internet Explorer>Internet Alternativ - if I maybe happened to uncheck something there. I have no firewall... activated.

I have DC++ v0.674. I have downloaded 150 gb before, with the settings in untouched after installation. When thsi problem suddenly came others have toldme that it is something with the settings - but I have not changed them. But I have also tried to change to passive mode, and change porst. But even if DC find the files correctly, and the list is there, it don't shows on the screen.

Do you see the columns? If not, press Ctrl and +.

No columns

I don't see the columns. I have a laptop, and there is no numeric keys - I suppose it's not the same as to click on Ctrl and + (+?\). Nothing happens if I try.

If you can't do ctrl and + then try dragging the columns out from the left most edge of the search windows, one at a time.

He has created now another thread, with the file names disguised. What does the policy say? Are we allowed to give him further support? Or should the second thread also make its way to Dump?

I seem to recall the precedent being to dump. Can't remember whether I saw it here or bugzilla though.

I know in buzilla a bug/enhancement always gets locked as soon as copyright violation comes up. I have seen a few users slide after a thread gets dumped here in the past. They usually got an answer and then Garg came through and banned them, but leaving the good thread visible.

The idea is this: if you help someone who is infringing copyrights and you know it, it provides legal grounds for you to become at least partially responsible for his infringement. We don't want that.

Read the MGM vs. Grokster court decision for more guidelines, but that's one of the big ones. It's what the EFF paper for P2P developers says too.

If I'm lagging in my forum viewing, what Xan describes (a "banned due to copyright infringement" user can end up with a "good" thread in support). This is fine, I think, sorta. They get purged anyhow.
